Take The Test & Submit Your Work
Let's go over everything we have learned in this lesson. It's valuable to review the highlights of recently absorbed information to help new knowledge stick. We hope you're enjoying the course so far and we'll see you in the next lesson.
How do lash lifts work?
The Lash Lift's purpose is to curl the lashes up to create fuller, longer eyelash look. When lash lifting, applying dye, or lightening them you’re working with the cortex part of the brow hair. When performing these procedures they all use hydroxide oxidant, but it’s not the same one used in tint.
How do the three solutions work to perm and lift the hairs?
o First Solution: The first lamination solution breaks through the outer cortex layer to allow your lamination to enter inside. In order to break through the cortex the active ingredient is thioglycolic acid.
o Second Solution: The second solution is a neutralizer. It neutralizes the hairs to bring back the cortex’s disulfide bond.
o Third Solution: The third and final solution seals in the results and serves to retain moisture.
What do we mean by processing times?
When we talk about processing times, we're referring to the amount of time a solution needs to sit on the lashes to achieve the 'perm' look. Remember, when performing a perm the solution needs to get through the cuticle and enter into the cortex.
What are the processing times?
Fine Hair: 7 minutes
Medium to Normal Hair: 8 ½ minutes
Thick/Coarse Hair: 10 - 12 minutes
