Whether you’re considering having a permanent makeup procedure done on yourself, or if you want to become a certified permanent makeup professional, you have questions you want answered before a commitment. We spoke with our Skyn trainers and estheticians to answer the biggest questions they receive. Our trainers and estheticians say the top two questions they get about permanent makeup are:

How long does permanent makeup take to heal?

How long does permanent makeup last?”

We want you to have all the information you need to make the right decision for yourself and for your beauty business, so we are going to take some time to answer these questions and more.

What is permanent makeup?

The phrase ‘permanent makeup’ doesn’t mean the makeup will stay on you forever. It’s the title coined for procedures that insert PMU pigment or PMU ink into the skin to create a makeup finish using a PMU device or PMU machine. The procedures are more accurately described as semi-permanent makeup. You can use both terms semi-permanent makeup and permanent makeup interchangeably.

If you’re an avid wearer of makeup or just want to have a polished makeup look all day, all night then permanent makeup is worth it.

How long does permanent makeup last?

When you have a permanent makeup procedure done such as Ombre Brows, Microblading, PMU Lip Coloring, or PMU Eyeliner the work will last anywhere from 6-18 months. Our Permanent Makeup Online Trainings provide specific durations for each procedure, but 6-18 months is the range for all of them. Once you have the first procedure complete, you will go back in 4-8 weeks later for a touchup so the results last.

To make your permanent makeup procedures last, you will need to tend to your area with specific aftercare procedures. The better care you take, the better and longer the results.
A major rule is no makeup whatsoever on the site until it is completely healed, and to only apply Aquaphor or Vaseline to the areas you had done.
You cannot pick scabs or scratch the area or else you can damage the permanent makeup work.
Do not cleanse with soap products, but instead us a moist Q-tip to cleanse.

In our Permanent Makeup Online Training courses we have the full aftercare list, but these are the top aftercare items.

How long does permanent makeup take to heal?

Permanent makeup procedures such as Microblading, Ombre Brows, Lip Blushing, and Eyeliner all take about 10-15 days to heal. Our Online Permanent Makeup Courses give specifics, but that’s the range.  When you have the semi-permanent makeup procedure done, the color will be darker in the beginning. As it heals, it will lighten up. The better care you take, the better the healing process and your results.

Everyone’s body is unique. This uniqueness means each body will heal, react, and take the permanent makeup procedures differently. Know your body before going in to have your procedure done and be sure to talk to your permanent makeup esthetician about possible reactions.

Permanent Makeup procedures create a lasting beauty look fit for you and your lifestyle, no matter what that looks like.

Permanent Makeup procedures are worth it.

And you’re worth it.
